All Star David Sweitzer
David Sweitzer
Detective
Middletown Police Department
Middletown, PA
In April of 2008, Detective David Sweitzer of the Middletown Borough Police Department apprehended a pedophile who is accused of sexually assaulting at least thirteen boys between the ages of 4 and 14 years old. Throughout his career, Detective Sweitzer has investigated roughly fifty cases of child abuse. In 2006 Detective Sweitzer received the Dauphin County Victim Witness Assistance Program Outstanding Victim Service Award. In a certificate of appreciation letter from Dauphin County, it states, "Know that your unrelenting dedication to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society from the physical and emotional anguish of abuse and neglect has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated". In 2008, he was awarded the Drew Comrey Medal of Honor for his exceptional police work. It is one of the highest honors the police department gives out. "Courage, honor, integrity" are the words that are inscribed on the medal that now belongs to Detective Sweitzer. Detective Sweitzer has had training in violent crime investigation, basic child abuse and protecting children on-line. These are among some of the multiple training certificates he has pursued that have enabled him to go above and beyond the call of duty for these young citizens who don't have a voice. He is presently Operations Officer for the Dauphin County Child Abduction Team.
