Detective Tiffany Haston has been a Law Enforcement officer with Indianapolis Police Department since 2000. Upon graduating from Indianapolis Police Academy she began as a street patrol officer. For the next 6 years she was assigned to the Patrol division with the exception of a short stint with the Domestic Violence Unit. It was during that short tenure that she discovered her passion within law enforcement. When she returned to street patrol Detective Haston and her partner created and implemented a domestic violence program for high school students. Since 2006 after returning to the Domestic Violence Unit Detective Haston has created a training program for school police officers utilized throughout the city's schools. Detective Tiffany Haston has become involved with various community organizations dealing with domestic violence and she speaks regularly at a local university on domestic violence issues. She continually attends trainings on domestic violence whether local or nationwide and incorporates the information into her trainings she conducts with Indianapolis Police Department. During her career she received a medal of Bravery award for her attempts to save a drowned victim. She also received a nomination for the Red Cross Hall of Fame. Her supervisor Sergeant Dawn Higgins describes Detective Haston as a "forward thinking" officer in the unit and expresses a strong interest in youth in the city. Sergeant Higgins went on to say that Detective Haston works with a sub group of youth that are directly involved with family domestic violence situations.
