Detective Robert Hale started in law enforcement in 1987 as a Military Police Officer. After he graduated from the police academy in 1992 he joined the University of Wisconsin Police Department. In addition working with the University PD Detective Hale began working part time with Madison Township Police Department in 1996 and later in 1999 became full-time officer. He became involved with the Field Training Officer Program and was an investigator for two years before being promoted to Detective in 2005. The Police Department just began acknowledging officers with an award program and since the inception Detective Hale has been honored by the Police Chief for well-handled investigations of sensitive crimes cases. Three years ago Detective Hale's assistance in a sexual abuse case helped to apprehend the predator.
But the predator wanted retaliation and from jail ordered the murders of Detective Hale along with the District Attorney however the attempts were unsuccessful.
Sergeant Mike Gehn speaks of how Detective Hale has an expert skill in interviewing suspects and gathering information needed from them to help solve the case. Sergeant Gehn goes on to say that Detective Hale's ability to show empathy for victims of sensitive crimes brings a degree of comfort to those who have suffered at the hands of another.
