Officer Daniel Clark and his partner responded to a holdup alarm that upon arrival was determined to be a domestic violence situation on the morning of Wednesday October 7, 2009. Officer Clark's academy training and experiences would ultimately be his saving grace that day. As they pursued the assailant into the ravine they were confronted by the suspect, both officers were shot. His partner was killed and even though Officer Clark was shot twice, once in his vest and once in his head, he was able to return fire which resulted in diffusing the deadly confrontation. As he talks about the tragic incident Officer Clark believes he experienced divine intervention because he is alive today to talk about that dreadful morning.
His career in Law Enforcement began in 2000 with the Military police. He joined the Winston-Salem, NC Police Academy in 2003. After the Academy he became a member of the patrol division. His willingness to backup other officers is legendary among his peers and Captain Patricia Murray has acknowledged that Officer Clark is professional and shows his dedication and strong passion in being a part of law enforcement every day.
