After nearly a year on the run, John Dallas Lockhart finally faced justice on Wednesday November 2, 2005. Lockhart appeared in court and pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from the rape of a female infant. According to witnesses, Lockhart didn't even try to look nice for his court date --he showed up to court sporting long, stringy, greasy locks, complete with a full beard.

According to police, John Lockhart raped a four-month-old infant -- and took pictures of the horrific crime. Police had been taking part in an ongoing fraud investigation aimed at John Lockhart's law practice, when they discovered the grossly appalling photos on his computer.
Police say that the files were retrieved when a computer software maintenance company was attempting to recover business and financial files from Lockhart's work computer.
According to investigators, they found a lot more. Company employees say they discovered more than 100 pornographic photos on his hard drive, including pictures of child and infant rape. The software company immediately contacted the Akron Police Department. Cops say that once Lockhart got wind of the fact that police had his computer, he bolted. Lockhart has not been seen since, but he may have fled to New York in August of 2004.
The accused pedophile is a father of two. Family and friends say they had no idea of Lockhart's possible double-life as a child predator. Cops and close associates say they fear Lockhart will settle in a new community, where his looks and personality could fool potential victims and their families.
The US Marshals Service has named this accused pedophile to their Top 15 list, an honor reserved for the worst of the worst. The Marshals say Lockhart should be considered a threat to young children.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2005, Lockhart appeared in court and pleaded guilty to his charges. Lockhart was sentenced to life in prison -- but will be eligible for parole in 10 years. The judge also issued two no-contact for life orders between the child rapist and his victim, as well as Lockhart and his ex-wife. Cops say Lockhart now has his whole life to think about his revolting crimes -- some of the worst ever covered at AMW.
How The Capture Went Down
When John Dallas Lockhart was accused of raping an infant, he seemed like he would be an elusive fugitive. He was an attorney, known to be charming, and had an All-American look to him -- basically the kind of person who could blend in anywhere. In fact, the U.S. Marshals thought he would be such a difficult catch they placed him on their 15 Most Wanted List.
Well, John Lockhart proves you can be a lawyer and still not know how to beat the system. All he did to hide was grow his hair a bit longer, don glasses, and use the unimaginative alias "Dallas Locke." He did not bother changing his identifiable lifestyle of sexual deviance. His participation in various sexual groups including BDSM, or Bondage Discipline SadoMasochism, not to mention his love of partying, were identifiable habits he continued to take part in, even as a fugitive.
These traits helped AMW viewers hone in on Lockhart and when he was profiled on America's Most Wanted on, June 4, 2005, tips came pouring in. Several were from the Venice Beach area in California. Marshals and Akron Police thought the information they received looked promising.
The sightings of Lockhart were confirmed when local law enforcement in California received a phone call from one of Lockhart's best friends in his new life. The tipster told U.S. Marshals that a friend going by the name "Dallas Locke" looked like John Lockhart and was living in Venice Beach. Marshals immediately contacted the tipster and he was able to give them photos of the man he knew as a friend. U.S. Marshals compared the photos of Dallas Locke and John Lockhart and confirmed they were the same person.
U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement worked through the night conducting surveillance on the house where Dallas Locke was living with his girlfriend. On Monday morning, June 6, 2005 police confirmed that Lockhart was home and moved in. They took him into custody without incident. Lockhart knew he was busted and when he was booked he did not even bother giving his alias. Marshals also seized computers from Lockhart's apartment and found a lot of material believed to be child pornography.
Lockhart Made A Pathetic Attempt To Start OverCops say Lockhart arrived in Venice, Ca. in August 2004. His friends there say that he told them he had recently left his wife and started out on a cross-country hike from New York, but soon tired of the lifestyle and hopped a Greyhound bus to California. At first Lockhart stayed in a hostel in Venice, but soon moved in to an apartment with a new girlfriend one block from the beach. Cops say Lockhart was the Webmaster for a website called www.sexetera.la. The site is for a Venice Beach Boardwalk shop that sells sexually suggestive lingerie, apparel and merchandise.
Cops say Lockhart was also involved in the BDSM community in Venice, and that it was similar to the type of lifestyle Lockhart was involved in before he went on the run. He had a new life for himself, but police say Lockhart's apparent addiction to sexual adventures made him too visible to hide.
