On August 29, 2006, a 10-year-old girl went to work with her dad, an employee at the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale, Calif. While dad was at work, he sent his daughter to see a movie within the mall at the "Movies 10" cinema complex. During the movie, she left to go check in with her dad at work. But, when she returned to the theater at around 1:30 p.m., she was subjected to a brutal and terrifying attack.
Police say that the girl was accosted by a 35-45-year-old African-American man, who threatened her at knifepoint. He pulled her into an empty theater, and raped her behind a movie screen. The man fled out a back door and left her in the theater. He had instructed the 10-year-old victim to remain naked from the waist down, face a wall and count while he made his escape.
The brave little girl was able to give cops some valuable information. With her help, cops have determined that the unknown assailant was about 5'9", 180 lbs, and spoke with a "Nigerian-type" accent. According to cops, the child rapist was wearing a white t-shirt with an unknown logo and dark blue warm-up pants with white stripes down the legs.
A $45,000 reward is currently being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person suspected of raping the girl.
