Duke molested his own grandchildren over a two-year period, cops have said. After he was arrested in May 2008, he was released on bond and fled.
In November 2009, Duke was arrested by U.S. Customs trying to leave Puerto Rico for the Dominican Republic, where he reportedly has a son in his early 20's.
He was traveling with stolen indentification under the name "Richard Slater."
He was released from custody in Puerto Rico because of paperwork issues in N.C. in December 2008. He was never extradited and he fled.
Immediately after his original arrest in Waynesville, N.C., he was sent to the hospital with complaints of severe chest pains, but returned to jail.
Duke's reported aliases include, "Jerry Allen Lenayt," "Osvaldo Navarro," Osualdo Navarro," "Barry Sequin" and "Carl Dyals."
Dukes has friends and family in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Florida, but some are not cooperating, cops have said.
Family members say he speaks very good Spanish and has traveled between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic frequently. In the past, he has dyed his hair black to look more Hispanic.
The names of his son and son's mother in the Dominican Republic are unknown.
U.S. Marshals arrested accused child molester Robert Carl Duke Jr. in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico on Sept. 7, 2009.
Cops say a tipster, who had spoken to them when they first had leads in Puerto Rico, called again to report a sighting of Duke.
Puerto Rican news sources report that Duke was seen standing outside of a hardware store, waiting for a ride.
Reports said Duke did not resist arrest, but did show a fake driver's license before admitting his true identity.
