On April 16, 2009, Edward Campbell was indicted in the United District Court of Vermont on federal drug charges, making this the third federal drug charge Campbell has accumulated.
According to U.S. Marshals, Campbell typically deals Oxycontin; although, in the past, he has dealt cocaine as well. According to police in Vermont, Oxycontin pills have become the new drug of choice and an 80 milligram Oxycontin pill can sell for up to $100.
In Burlington, Vt., authorities allege that Campbell ran a small drug organization with about ten employees.
According to cops, Campbell was at the top of the food chain, before being busted by an informant.
Police say this is Campbell's third federal drug charge, and this time, he could face life in prison.
Campbell, also known as "Big Ed," is a towering 6'6" tall, and weighs a hefty 300 lbs. He is a avid card player who frequently gambles in both private poker matches as well as casinos.
Looking at his third drug charge, Edward Campbell was facing close to 10 years in prison, when he took off in April. But, at 6'6" and over 300 lbs., Campbell would have a hard time keeping a low profile.
For over two months, U.S. Marshals tracked Campbell through tips they received from a close confidant. They say he'd been moving back and forth between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh staying with different women.
On Oct. 22, 2009, at 7:30 a.m., U.S. Marshals knocked on the door of one of his girlfriends, who was living in Philly.
Campbell was there, and when they asked him to identify himself, he couldn’t seem to remember his name. After searching his pockets, authorities found $1,000 in cash. He arrested on the spot.
Campbell is headed to federal court, and will be detained until he's sent back to Vermont to face felony drug charges.
