After being featured on "America's Most Wanted," Barry White was arrested and convicted of 105 counts involving the sexual abuse of his four stepchildren. White will most likely spend the rest of his life behind bars; his final sentence was 100 to 220 years. »The Full Story
Barry White is wanted for molesting and sexually abusing his stepsons and stepdaughters. Prosecutors say that between July and November of 1999, White engaged in sexual intercourse with his then 8-year-old and 4-year-old stepdaughters and his then 6-year-old and 2-year-old stepsons. Furthermore, White is charged with forcing the children to engage in intercourse with one another.
Investigators say when a grand jury handed down the indictments on February 14, 2001, Barry White and his wife, Jennifer fled. According to officials, Jennifer Whiite called the children's foster parents and threatened them with violence. Investigators say she then had a note delivered to the oldest child and warned her that Barry would kill the young girl if she said anything about the sexual abuse. The Whites haven't been seen or heard from since.
America's Most Wanted viewers pulled through again! This time, they nabbed a couple charged with over 100 counts of child sex abuse. The Woodson County Sheriff's Department picked Barry and Jennifer White up in Toronto, KS.
On Saturday, March 24, 2001, AMW featured the Whites on the air for about one minute. Police knew to be on the lookout for tips coming in from the Missouri/Kansas area because that's where a bank record trail led. That's just what happened! An AMW viewer called in that the Whites had recently moved in across the street from her in Toronto, Kansas. She provided their new address and some additional information that was very interesting. The tipster looked out her window and read off the license plate of the vehicle in the front yard of the home. The plates matched exactly those of the getaway car that the Whites used to flee. The tipster added that the tire was flat on the car, so she knew they would not be able to leave. She also knew the couple could only receive three television channels in their trailer home and that Fox was not one of them. Police went to the address and at around 1 am on March 25th, they arrested both Barry and Jennifer without incident.
