Florida has long been at the forefront of sex offender registration in the United States. They were the first state to list sexual predators and offenders on the internet and to make the information available through a 24 hour hotline.
There are now more than 40,000 registered sex offenders in Florida, and they're required by law to check in twice a year with local law enforcement. Almost 90 percent of these offenders are in compliance, but it's the others that have police concerned.
Michael Bowman, a man police are calling a high risk sex offender who failed to register.
Hermann Polack, a sex offender from Miami, failed to show up to report his address.
Now, cops say they don't know where he is.
Darius Girnius, a convicted sex offender who police say registered a false address upon moving to Florida.
