Veteran Firefighter Named Eighth All-Star Finalist

A veteran firefighter from Fairfield, Conn. whose rescue skills have been put to the test at major emergencies including the attacks of 9/11 and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has been chosen by the public as the latest weekly finalist in the 2008 America's Most Wanted All-Star Contest. Lieutenant Brad Sherman of the Fairfield Fire Department has spent 30 years in public service, during which he's become a certified Hazardous Materials Technician, a Confined Space Rescuer, a Certified Diver and an Emergency Medical Technician. He's used those skills to help people beyond his hometown. On September 11, 2001, Lt. Sherman helped organize a task force to make the 60-mile trip to the World Trade Center, where he aided in the rescue, recovery, and clean up operations at Ground Zero. In September 2005, he was selected by The Federal Emergency Management Agency to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Brad Sherman's dedication to helping fellow citizens earned him the votes to become the last of eight weekly finalists to be chosen by the public in the AMW All-Star Contest, which honors the nation's first responders. With all eight weekly finalists now in place, members of the public will be able to start voting for the Grand Prize winner on April 17. Anyone can vote once a day, every day, at www.amw.com, or by text message using their Sprint phones. Details on how to vote by phone will appear on the AMW website. The voting ends on May 6, and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
