AMW was honored to join the thousands of others who came to Washington, D.C. to honor their fallen brothers and sisters during 2009's National Police Week.
Cops from all over the country and their supporters came to pay somber tribute to the many fallen heroes.
And it's become so much more than just a National memorial: families from as far away as the UK and Australia made the trip to Washington.
On that day of remembrance, people didn't just mourn those who died. They pledged to keep their spirit alive by celebrating the memories they shared with them.
And for those currently on duty, it was a stark reminder of the challenges they face every day trying to protect us.
In 2008, 133 officers died in the line of duty. Their names are here.
