U.S. Marshals Hunt Unregistered Sex Offenders

9/23/2009

Federal law enforcement estimates that there are nearly 100,000 unregistered sex offenders in the United States, and the Adam Walsh Act makes it a federal offense if convicted sex offenders don't register with their local police.

If they fail to register, cops need to track them down.

Often, that responsibility falls to the U.S. Marshals Service. It's a big job, and the Marshals have limited resources to do it.

Recently, AMW was on the scene with Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fitzgibbon and his team as they tracked down unregistered sex offenders in Northern Ohio, including suspect Danny Bowles.
