Behind The Scenes With John Walsh In Washington, D.C.

10/1/2009

While on set shooting this week's show, AMW's Avery Mann takes us behind the scenes and shares some lighter moments with some of the key players responsible for bringing you each episode.

From the control room, show producer Chris Hamilton can keep tabs on everything that's going on and interact with the whole crew. "I can talk to John in his ear," says Chris. Adding, "I have what's called a 'studio announce,' so I can talk like the voice of God to everyone out there."

Co-Executive Producer Steve Katz visited the sets of several other Fox  shows with John Walsh in Los Angeles, to take a peek at how they put those shows together.

And as Steve explains, "We have a small band of jacks-of-all-trades, because we are lot more tightly knit than they are out there."

Steve adds, "We talked a lot with the folks in L.A. about how AMW fits in with the Fox family, and they are very excited by our plans to improve the quality of the stories we are telling on the show." And as the show enters its 23rd season, telling great stories is critical to engaging our audience to help us catch the bad guys.

Avery also sat down with John Walsh during some down time to talk about some of the cases we are looking at this week. Continuing on the pursuit of Jennifer Schuett's attacker, some new information has come to light. A different, similar crime from around the same time period and a nearby location, John believes could be linked to Jennifer's attacker, and might help provide some important clues.

"This girl is one of probably one of the bravest I've ever met in my life," says John, "and she's grown up wanting justice for years." John adds that after meeting this woman and being humbled by her courage, dignity, and desire to help other crime victims, he's personally engaged in trying to find justice for the Schuett family.

Hopefully, after this weeks show, you'll call in with the tip that can finally close this case.
