Iowa Officer Who Overcame Brain Injury Is Named AMW All-Star Finalist

4/16/2010

Officer Tim Davis of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Police Department has been named a finalist in the 2010 AMW All-Star Contest, sponsored by Sprint.

In the early morning hours of March 30, 2009, Officer Davis and his partner responded to a robbery. When the officers arrived, two of the three suspects made a break for it. Officer Davis stayed behind while his partner pursued the fleeing suspects. He attempted to apprehend the remaining suspect, but was struck in the face and knocked out by the handle of a gun. When back-up arrived they found Officer Davis unconscious on the ground. He sustained a severe brain injury to his frontal lobe and a broken nose, but has since made an incredible recovery from his injuries. All three suspects are now behind bars.

Officer Davis is the last of eight weekly finalists to be chosen by the public in this year’s AMW All-Star Contest. Each weekly finalist will be profiled on America's Most Wanted (Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX). Through online votes, the public will choose the grand-prize winner. In May, AMW Host John Walsh will present the 2010 AMW All-Star winner with a check for $10,000 at the NASCAR SPRINT Cup Series™ All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Members of the public may vote for their favorite first responder once a day, every day. The grand-prize winner voting runs through May 3rd. Please visit amw.com/allStar for more information.
