AMW On The Road: Around The World

10/25/2010

While the baseball playoffs preempt AMW on Fox, John Walsh and the crew have been traveling around the world to produce some very special episodes of America's Most Wanted for November. Pursuing AMW's international search for justice, John put together a list of the world's most wanted fugitives and will bring you to investigations in places such as Tokyo, London, the Middle East, and to Lyon, France, home of the world's largest police organization -- INTERPOL. Then John will expose one of the most horrifying practices we're ever seen: child predators from Western nations who travel to poor countries like Cambodia to pursue their sick desires, far from the watching eyes of law enforcement -- or so they think. John will show you just how bad the situation is and what's being done about it, and he'll tell you how you can help protect children worldwide.

Here are some sneak preview photos of some of the behind-the-scenes action. Our special episodes start airing Nov. 6.

Somaly Mam and several children she rescued from slavery welcome John Walsh to the center Somaly founded in Cambodia. In an upcoming AMW episode, John will share with AMW viewers how Somaly is providing hope for children caught in desperate situations in a country where Western pedophiles often travel to pursue their sick needs.

The visit to Somaly Mam's center packed an emotional wallop and left John Walsh and everyone at AMW more determined than ever to hunt down anyone who would hurt a child – anywhere.

Outside Prey Sar Prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, John Walsh met with Jim Gamble, who heads the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre in Great Britain. Jim was John's guide through the underworld of predators and exploitation that plagues Cambodia. This prison is where the people who Jim helps the Cambodians hunt down wind up.

Inside the Prey Sar Prison, John Walsh saw first-hand how rough the conditions are. AMW will give viewers a sobering look inside the Cambodian lockup where Western prisoners serve hard time for crimes against children.

John Walsh and Jim Gamble of CEOP visited the memorial in Cambodia to victims of the "Killing Fields" violence of the Pol Pot regime. The years of terror decimated Cambodia, leaving a legacy of poverty and need that makes fighting child exploitation more difficult.
