Behind The Scenes With John Walsh: Houston

12/10/2010

This week, John Walsh and America's Most Wanted go on location in Houston to profile the unfortunate darker side of this beautiful city.

"Really, really tough case. Ten years ago, 17-year-old, 110-pound girl, murdered by two thugs and a woman – a woman who was jealous of her," John said.

The woman and accomplice are behind bars, but the main perpetrator, Jesus Salazar, is on the run, possibly in Venezuela. John wants nothing more than to give the parents of victim, Felicia Ruiz, closure.

"It starts out heartbreaking. I go in their house and see all the pictures of this gorgeous girl and how sweet she was; brings back all those memories," John said. "But then I hear them say to me, 'You bring us hope. By you coming all the way to Houston with all of your great crew of America's Most Wanted, you bring us hope.'"

John also revealed his personal connection with the Space City. The made-for-television movie, "Adam", detailing the abduction and murder of his son, was filmed in Houston. As one of the most-watched TV movies in history, three separate airings with pictures of missing children shown after the broadcast led to the recovery of dozens of missing kids.

"It's a good experience being here. I love Houston. I love Texas, and I hope we get some great results," said John.
