U.S. Health Department Names Its Most Wanted

America’s Most Wanted is proud to team up with the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services (to help track down their top 10 named fugitives who have allegedly cost taxpayers more than $124 million.

From a motorized wheelchair scam run by alleged perpetrator Leonard Nwafor to the Benitez brothers who allegedly swindled Medicare out of $110 million, authorities say these fugitives are brazen and prey on those during times of health-care crisis.

Halting Scams Will Save Americans Millions

“Individuals who steal from federal health care programs and then flee from the consequences of their crimes must be held accountable,” said Gerald T. Roy, OIG Deputy Inspector General for Investigations. While the list features the 10 worst of the worst, the Department of HHS is on the lookout for more than 170 fugitives – all of whom have allegedly cheated federal programs for their own benefit without regard of the effect on citizens nationwide.
