Cops say the man pictured here is Jesse Caron --right before he robbed and assaulted an elderly woman
On Halloween Night 2005, Jesse Caron hosted a party at his home in Lewiston, Maine. Caron was known around town to be a upstanding member of the community and small business owner. His car dealership only had about 20 vehicles, which he bought from police auctions. But this relationship with the police would quickly change.
Cops say there were large amounts of drugs and alcohol at the party, including both powder and crack cocaine. One female party-goer said that someone slipped a drug in her drink. According to officials, the woman woke up a little later with one man holding her down and another raping her.
When police went to search Caron's home to investigate, they were shocked by what they found.
After cops say they found evidence of the crime, they continued to look around Caron's house. Officials then uncovered cocaine and also an illegal assault rifle. On January 17, 2006, a warrant was issued and the Lewiston Police Deptartment came to arrest Caron. What cops didn't know was that Caron had a surveillance camera outside his home. As they approached, he ran to the back of his home with his girlfriend, Amber Smith, where authorities say he put a gun to her head.
Police say Caron escaped through the back window with his girlfriend and went on the run.
But it wasn't long before cops caught him.
When AMW aired Jesse Caron's profile on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, the hotline lit up with tips. One placed Caron in Grey, Maine -- about 20 minutes from the fugitive's hometown in Lewiston. The other tip was from someone who knew a friend of Amber's. The tipster told AMW the friend may know where Amber was hiding with Caron.
Police tracked down the friend and learned that Caron's mother had been giving him money. In fact, police say Caron's mother had emptied her entire bank account to give to the fugitive and his girlfriend. Police set up surveillance and began following Caron's mother, hoping she'd meet up with her son to give him more money.
On Feb. 14, 2006, the surveillance paid off. Police followed her to the bar where she worked, and sure enough, Caron pulled up in a stolen Jeep Cherokee around 1:00 p.m. When he walked into the bar, police followed him in, and slapped on the cuffs.
Caron's arrest was the 877th direct capture for AMW.
Unfortunately, a month later Caron was let out on reduced bail and cops say he is back to his old violent ways.
On June 5, 2006, an elderly woman was robbed and assaulted in the parking garage of the Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, Conn. The man who took her purse then went on a shopping spree in Rhode Island with the woman's credit card. When police watched the surveillance video one man came to mind-- Jesse Caron.
In addition to robbery and assault charges in Connecticut, police in Rhode Island, Massachuesetts and Maine are on the lookout for Caron as well. On June 13, 2006, in Seakonk, Mass., cops suspect that Caron narrowly escaped a police sting and stole a car. They think he later broke into an elementary school to sleep that night.
It seems as though each day Caron is linked to more crimes. Police say that his girlfriend, who is now back at home in Maine, told them that Caron watches AMW each week to see if he will be featured again.
Police caught up with Jesse Caron on Valentine's Day 2006-- and on June 19th.

At 7:15 a.m., on June 19, 2006, Jesse Caron was exiting an office supply store in Redlands, Ca. A 51-year-old woman was entering the store at the same time. Cops say when he passed her in the automatic doors, he violently tried to snatch her purse from her left hand.
The woman put up a fight, but still Caron overpowered her and ran toward a construction site under a freeway underpass with her purse. Two construction workers saw the woman yelling that a man took her purse and went looking for him. Within a few minutes they saw Caron hiding between two slabs of cement and looking through the purse, cops say. Soon, the woman, who was handicapped, caught up with the two construction workers and the three of them held Caron down until the police arrived.
Caron, who has gotten thinner and dyed his hair dark while on the run, was carrying his Maine ID card.
Cops say that he might have been staking out the handicapped spots in the parking lot for a woman to attack.
