Police say on Nov. 18, 2002 a 13-year-old girl was doing homework at her friend's house when Marlon Morris, 26, and his girlfriend convinced her to go to an apartment in Framingham, Mass., a town located 15 minutes away. The girl followed them, but that's when the nightmare began. Police say Morris and his girlfriend raped the victim for more than two hours.
The next day, the victim told her mother about what happened and the mother immediately reported the crime to the Framingham Police Department. Morris was charged with five counts of Rape of a Child With Force and four counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a child under 14 years of age. Morris' girlfriend was treated as a juvenile.
As police moved in to to arrest Morris he escaped by jumping from a second floor balcony onto the hood of a car parked underneath. He wasn't agreat fugitive, because a K-9 unit found Morris hiding in a wooded area around 10 pm that night. Morris was arrested and later released on $5,000 bail.
In November 2004, Morris went to trial. But once again he tried to avoid justice, and this time he got away. Police say Morris left the courtroom just 20 minutes before the jury returned with the verdict. Morris was guilty on seven charges, but now he was missing.
The courageous victim in this case decided to talk to AMW about her experience. She was 13 when she was brutally raped. Now a teenager, she says she's speaking out for two reasons. The first is to set an example for other young women that doing the right thing can prevent this from happening to other women. The second reason is because she says she wants more than anything for Marlon Morris to be locked up. She's determined to see him face justice for the nightmare he put her through.
Marlon Morris was picked up August 9, 2006.
