William Bradford Notorious,Serial,Killer,Dies,Awaiting,Execution Notorious Serial Killer Dies Awaiting Execution

Condemned serial killer Bill Bradford died of natural causes on March 12, 2008, in a California prison. The convicted double murderer was 61 years old. Bradford was sentenced to death in 1988 after being convicted in the deaths of two women, Shari Miller and Tracy Campbell.

On July 25, 2006, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department re-opened an investigation, hoping to identify the unknown women in more than 50 photographs taken by Bill Bradford himself. Police originally felt these women could be additional victims of the killer and long since dead or missing. However, cops positively identified almost half of the women as alive and well, but they still need your help.

Police detectives have already tentatively identified almost half of the women pictured here. See if you recognize any of the unidentified women here.

Police say that the investigation into the photographs found at convicted killer Bill Bradford's home more than twenty years ago has yielded some positive results.  A number of days after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department re-opened the investigation, they started to delve into the numerous tips and phone calls from women coming forward as the individuals pictured on the poster.

According to police, they have positively identified and contacted 22 women from the poster.  Investigators have also noticed that a few of the women pictured on the poster are shown multiple times.  Furthermore, cops say that one of the women, #25 - Olga Talbot, was at one time Bradford's roommate and died recently of natural causes.

Detectives are also looking into numerous leads that were generated when America's Most Wanted profiled the story.  Despite having numerous leads on the women pictured, cops are still requesting the public's assistance in identifying as many of the women as possible.  Anyone with information on the women is urged to call toll-free 1-800-CRIME-TV.

Over half of the women in the photographs have still not been identified.

Do You Know Any Of These Women?

On July 25, 2006,  the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department re-opened an investigation into what was originally thought to be 50 unidentified, missing or murdered women.  Cops are now desperate to learn the identities of these women and to also determine if they were victims of a killer who is now sitting on death row.  That man is Bill Bradford, who was sentenced to death in 1988 for the murders of two aspiring models, Shari Miller and Tracey Campbell.

Bradford, an amateur photographer, would meet women in bars and promise to take photographs that would help their modeling careers.  However, after photographing them, Bradford was known to rape his victims and he murdered at least two, but cops feel certain that he is responsible for several more unsolved murders.  Bradford was known to cut off various body parts from his victims to keep as souvenirs.

This cold case heated up recently when detectives reviewed cold case files and found pictures that were seized from Bill Bradford's home more than 20 years ago.  Police decided to ask for the public's help in identifying these nameless women whom they feared were long since dead or missing.

Almost immediately, hundreds of tips, emails, and phone calls flooded in.  Within two days, detectives tentatively confirmed the identity of 28 of the women in the 54 photos.  Furthermore, they are positive that two of the 28 are alive.

However, one of the women, the photo marked #28 - Donnalee Campbell Duhamel, was an aspiring model who police found decapitated after she was seen leaving a bar with Bradford.  Bradford was never charged for the murder, but her death is now under investigation again.

Cops Hope For Closure

The 54 photos in question were confiscated from Bradford's Mar Vista, California apartment when he was arrested in the 1980s.

At the time, police detectives suspected that he had killed some of the women, but the case was eventually pushed aside after he was sentenced to death in 1988.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Captain Ray Peavy maintained that instead of trying to determine who the women might be back in 1988, detectives thought at the time that it was more productive to investigate other suspected killers after Bradford was put behind bars for the murders of the two models.  Peavy admits that since then attitudes have changed and police are more willing to examine possible homicides if for no other reason than to give some kind of closure to the families.

A Mystery Unravels

In July of 1984, William Bradford was awaiting trial for rape while out on bail in Los Angeles.  Cops became suspicious when Bradford's 15-year-old neighbor,  Tracey Campbell, went missing and obtained a search warrant for his apartment.  There, detectives found hundreds of photographs that Bradford had taken himself of young women. Included in these were posed pictures of Tracey Campbell and Shari Miller, a young woman who had just been discovered strangled to death.  The pictures were taken in front of a distinctive rock formation in the desert, which cops were able to locate.  Behind the rock was Tracy Campbell's body, her face covered with Shari Miller's blouse.

Bradford was put on trial in 1988 for the two murders.  Bradford fired his attorney and served as his own lawyer, but offered no defense for himself.  He terrorized the jury, and was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death.  Upon hearing the guilty verdict, Bradford turned to the jury and said, "Think of how many you don't even know about yet."  Thankfully for everyone, this is one killer who will never get a chance to kill again.
