»The Full Story
Atlanta police were searching for Michael Anthony Powell, a fugitive they say is one poor sport, until an AMW tipster took him down.
Late one night in June 2005, a group of people came together to relax and play some dice. But, because of Powell, there would be nothing relaxing about it.
According to cops, Powell's victim accused him several times of cheating during the game -- so Powell pulled out a gun and shot the guy in the chest. His victim would die at the scene of the crime in the arms of a family member. Powell has been on the run ever since.
Cops wanted badly to apprehend Powell -- bad enough to give him a spot on the Atlanta Police Department's Top Ten Fugitives list.
Police say Powell has a scar on his left leg from a gun shot wound. He's a known street hustler, and might be carrying a silver revolver. Investigators thought he might be wearing his hair all in twists, and said he has ties to Mississippi.
Police tell us that Michael Powell has been captured at an apartment complex in Atlanta, Ga.
Police say they received a tip on March 27, 2008 from an AMW viewer. The tip led to an apartment complex at 1537 Hardee St.
After staking out the complex for a day, police were able to figure which apartment he was in -- and Powell was captured without incident.
When he was arrested, Powell said he knew that he had been featured on America's Most Wanted.
