On January 19, 1999, cops in Fresno, Calif. received a call regarding an abandoned toddler who was found wandering around a local Denny's restaurant. Days later, the child's grandparents responded to the media attention and came to pick up the youngster. Police tell AMW that they had no idea the case was going to develop into something far more serious: they soon found the boy's mother, Mona Kredo, dead in her apartment and the boy's father, Javier Zurita Vasquez, was nowhere to be found.

Fresno Cops Seek Murder Suspect

In January of 1999, police received a disturbing phone call regarding a toddler that had  been left outside a Denny's restaurant in Fresno, Calif.  The "found child" case made the news and the toddler's grandparents contacted police days later and revealed that the child was the son of their daughter, Mona Kredo.

Fresno police proceeded to Mona's apartment and found her murdered remains.  Police say that friends and family were questioned regarding her death and Javier Zurita Vasquez, Mona's boyfriend, became the primary suspect.  Cops tell AMW that Vasquez and Kredo had dated and had a child together, but by January of 1999, they were estranged.  Fresno cops believe that Mona's murder resulted from a fit of jealousy.

Cops say that members of the Vasquez family admitted that he had not been seen since the day of Mona's murder.  Authorities say it is quite possible that Vasquez has been travelling back and forth between California and Mexico staying with family members in Visalia, Farmersville, and Exeter.   Detectives and family members are asking for the help of AMW's viewers in locating Javier Vasquez and bringing him to justice.
