Police say Dr. Nasser Alavi sexually abused a 22-year-old patient who sought treatment for depression.

In May of 2003, a La Mesa, California woman began seeing her general practitioner for the treatment of anxiety and depression.  According to cops, Dr. Nasser Alavi did much more than offer treatment to the 22-year-old patient.

Police maintain that from the very first visit, Alavi touched the woman in sexually inappropriate ways.  They also say that with each subsequent visit, the molestation escalated.

Cops affirm that although the woman felt uncomfortable, her Phillipino heritage taught her to show special respect for nurses and doctors.  The woman later told police that Dr. Alavi would give her full body exams, including touching her breasts and genitals, despite the fact that she only sought treatment for depression.

Police remark that the woman continued to see Dr. Alavi until August of 2003 when she reported what Dr. Alavi had done to her insurance company.  The insurance company then called the cops who arrested Dr. Nasser Alavi.

Police say that Alavi never showed up to the hearing and has been on the run ever since.

Convicted Doc Posts Bail And Vanishes

Cops say that the subsequent trial in October 2005 resulted in a conviction for Dr. Alavi on 6 counts of sexual battery and one count of sexual penetration.  Police say that while Alavi's lawyer felt his client was innocent, the judge did allow Alavi to be released on his own recognizance after posting $100,000 bail.

According to cops, Alavi was scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing on November 8, 2005.  He faced up to 14 years in jail.  Police say that Alavi never showed up to the hearing and has been on the run ever since.

Cops speculate that Alavi may be using any one of many aliases based on variations of his full name, Seyyed Nasser Alavi Lotfabad.  Police also believe that he has been moving money between his accounts using his cell phone.  Dr. Nasser Alavi holds citizenship in the United States but also in Canada and his native Iran where police feel that he could be hiding.

AMW Tips Say Alavi Spotted In Canada

Since Nasser Alavi's AMW segment aired, tips came in placing Alavi near Ottawa, Canada.
He was seen spotted with a child at a McDonald's outside Ottawa.  Police believe that he may have relatives in the area and have confirmed that he recently was in a government office applying for a new Canadian passport.

Police say that he claimed to have lost his original passport, however, Canadian officials had no idea that he surrendered it to San Diego Sheriff's Department when he we was convicted of sexual battery.

Police also believe that Alavi may have traveled to Mexico.  He speaks fluent Farsi, English, and French.  Of the four cars that Alavi had, only a brown Nissan Pathfinder is unaccounted for.  Cops think that he will stay put in Canada due to his lack of a Canadian passport which would ensure him re-entry to a country where he feels safe.
