Cops say Douglas Dishon several adolescent family members before going on the run with his wife, Vicki. Dishon was arrested in Mexico on murder charges in Jan. 2010.
Police say that soon after Douglas Dishon married his wife, Vicki, he started molesting a female family member. The alleged abuse continued for seven years, and when the girl came forward, Vicki Dishon dismissed the cry for help as a lie.
As the years went by, cops tell AMW that Vicky Dishon turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the secret she was hiding -- a secret the victim couldn't forget.
When the girl went to authorities with her story, police say the Dishons threatened her with more abuse and forced her to recant her statements.
On Jan. 4, 2009, Mexican authorities received information that Douglas Dishon murdered his wife, Vicki, and buried her in their home in Mexico.
Cops say the Dishon's young relative wasn't Douglas Dishon's only victim. In July 2004, a 10-year-old boy told police that Dishon molested him on a camping trip just outside of Phoenix.
According to investigators, Dishon's abuse didn't stop there -- he was also molesting another relative. Worse yet, they say Vicki Dishon conspired to hide evidence from law enforcement during its investigation. However, cops soon devised a scheme to take Dishon down.
When cops hooked up a wire to Dishon's young victim, they received the evidence they needed to put Dishon away.
Cops say Dishon admitted to the child abuse. Authorities learned that Dishon told his young victims that his sexual advances were common in all families -- not something to talk about, just something to forget.
Police arrested Dishon and charged him with multiple counts of child molestation. He made bail, but as his court date grew close, he skipped town with Vicki in tow.
They remained on the run for years until January 2010, when Mexican authorities learned Dishon was hospitalized following a suicide attempt. When questioned by Mexican investigators, Dishon admitted that he attempted to take his own life after murdering his wife Vicki.
Vicki Dishon's remains were discovered in the Dishon's home in Playa del Carmen. Dishon is being held in Mexico on murder charges.
For more than four years, Douglas Dishon and his wife, Vicki, were fugitives. On Jan. 4, 2010, authorities in the United States and Mexico received information that closed the case in a bizarre fashion.
Police had long suspected that the Dishons had fled the United States in 2005 after Douglas Dishon never showed up to an Arizona court hearing on child molestation and child abuse charges. It was believed the couple had fled to Mexico, but there was never any definitive word on exactly where. That all changed when Dishon was hospitalized after a suicide attempt in Mexico.
Authorities tell AMW that when they questioned Dishon, he eventually admitted that he had murdered his wife and buried her in their Playa del Carmen home. Investigators went to the Dishon's house and discovered the remains of Vicki Dishon underneath a foot of concrete.
Dishon is facing murder charges in Mexico. There is no word on whether or not he will be extradited back to Arizona to face previous charges.
