Cops in Olmsted Co., Minn. say Prakash Peethambaram ambushed his own mother when she got home one afternoon, before fleeing the scene of the crime.
Prakash Peethambaram's mother took an emergency protection order out against him in early September 2009, because she feared for her life whenever he was around.
Police tell us Peethambaram threatened to kill his mom and his younger brother frequently, and if they were to call the police, he'd tell them he was going to cut off all of their fingers.
Less than two months after receiving the Order for Protection against Peethambaram, his mother arrived home with a pizza shortly before 4 p.m. on October 28, 2009.
Before she reached the front door, cops say that Peethambaram presumably sprung from the bushes and attacked his mother in a fit of rage.
According to police, Peethambaram threw his mom to the ground and began violently slamming her head into the pavement -- but the horrific assault didn't end there.
Peethambaram then allegedly took a set of keys and tried to gouge her eyes out by stabbing her repeatedly under her eye sockets.
Cops say this vehicle resembles the one Peethambaram allegedly stole from his mother. It's an ivory, four-door 2008 Ford Edge with Minnesota license plates SSL-378.
She may very well have lost her vision, or even her life, if her other son hadn't emerged from the house, tripping an alarm. The loud ruckus caused Peethambaram to panic.
Cops say Peethambaram hopped into his mother's ivory four-door 2008 Ford Edge with Minnesota license plate SSL-378, and hit the road.
He hadn't been seen since, and cops thought he may have headed to Chicago to lay low with his father, an employee at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
When he first went on the run, cops told us that Peethambaram suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) which he is supposed to take medication for, but rarely does. According to his family, he has a very violent temper, and has assaulted his mother many times in the past.
Less than two months after Peethambaram went on the run, cops say he came back to exact revenge on his mother one final time.
On the night of December 4, 2009, Peethambaram's mother called 9-1-1 pleading for help. She said he was ramming his S-U-V into all three of the garages connected to her home.

Less than two months after we first featured Prakash Peethambaram on AMW.com, cops say his reign of terror is finally over.
On the night of December 4, 2009, Peethambaram's mother frantically dialed 9-1-1. She told dispatchers that her son, who cops say had severely beaten her and tried to gouge out her eyes in late October, was trying to drive an SUV through her Stewartville, Minn. home.
Minutes later, deputies with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene and placed Peethambaram under arrest without incident.
Inside the SUV -- which cops suspect he's been living out of for the duration of his time on the lam -- sheriff's deputies found a pillow and blankets, along with a number of toiletries. Cops tell us he ran out of money and had nowhere else to turn. As the temperature dropped significantly in the Rochester area, cops say he made one last attempt to return home to find warmth and sustenance.
Immediately after his arrest, Peethambaram was taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center where he was held on $200,000 bail.
