9 Year Old Girl Vanishes In North Carolina

Police in North Carolina haven't given up hope. They are still searching for Asha Degree who disappeared from her home in February 2000. According to officials, Asha was seen asleep in her bed. But when her family woke up at 6:30 that morning, she was gone.

Two witnessess told police they saw Asha walking along Highway 18 at 4 o'clock the morning she disappeared. But that was the last sighting of Asha.

In August 2001, a book bag bearing Asha's name and phone number was discovered along N.C. 18, the same highway where she was last seen. A pair of men's khaki pants and bones thought to belong to an animal also were retrieved from the search.
