Cops say Duncan (left) and Jack Connolly (right) were abducted by their father on March 8, 2009. An AMBER Alert was issued in Illinois and cops don't know where the group could be headed.
A routine parental drop-off turned out to be anything but in Bloomington, Ill. That's where cops say 40-year-old Michael Connolly ran off with his kids after failing to drop them off at the Leroy Police Department headquarters on March 8, 2009.
Shortly after the alleged abduction, authorities issued an AMBER Alert for Connolly's two boys: Jack, 7, and Duncan, 9.
The boys may be in danger, as police say their father has a history of depression and "has limited means to provide for the children."
Michael Connolly has had a variety of different looks in the past, and cops say he can easily disguise himself by growing out a goatee and wearing glasses.
He may also be going by the name "Gung Yer Lee", which authorities tell us he's been known to use.
While he's suspected to have only limited funds, Connolly enjoys gambling and may very well try to frequent casinos and other gambling establishments. He also enjoys going to libraries and may attempt to find refuge in homeless shelters.
Cops tell AMW that Connolly has threatened to kill himself in the past, so the fact that he's taken his kids without provocation and may have a depressed mental state has given authorities and family members a reason to worry.
Investigators still soundly believe that this situation can and will be resolved peacefully, but they feel that time is of the essence and Connolly must be brought in immediately.
Jack Connolly, 7, was wearing black nylon sweat pants with white stripes, a burgundy hoodie, and black-and-green Nickelodeon "slimer" tennis shoes.
Duncan Connolly was last seen wearing brown wind pants with white stripes, a white t-shirt and white Velcro tennis shoes. At the time of his alleged abduction, Duncan had in his possession a blue jacket with red stripes around the wrists and collar.
His canine teeth had been removed and one is growing back faster than the other. Duncan also has an upper lip deformity which causes the lip to look puffy. In addition, he has a freckle on his right thumb.
Jack, Duncan's younger brother, was wearing black nylon sweat pants with white stripes, a burgundy hoodie, as well as black and green Nickelodeon "slimer" tennis shoes. In his possession, Jack had a green/olive-colored denim jacket.
He normally wears a hearing aid, which was left behind at his school. Jack has a speech impediment which causes him to pronounce his K's as T's. He is missing his upper front tooth, has a surgery scar above his right ear and another scar on his left elbow.
Authorities tell AMW that the boys had additional clothing packed up in a green Incredible Hulk backpack with a "Hulk" character on the back. They also had a black and gray large college-type backpack with them.
Investigators think the boys' appearances may have been altered, and Connolly may have taken them to get their hair cut or dyed.
Duncan and Jack's natural hair is described as both black and/or brown.
Connolly, Kids May Be Found With Old, Beat Up Car
Detectives say Connolly fled with the boys in a gray, 4-door, 1991 Dodge Dynasty with Illinois license plates A326109.
The car has damage to the bumper area on the passenger side, and a hubcap was missing on the driver's side.
A booster seat was also in the car, though that may have been removed, along with one or both license plates.

Duncan Connolly, 9, was last seen wearing brown wind pants with white stripes, a white t-shirt and white Velcro tennis shoes. He had with him a blue jacket with red stripes around the wrist and collar.
Cops say a car was found in a remote area of Putnam County. The boys' bodies were found in the back seat, and their father, Michael Connolly, 40, was found dead about 60 feet away.
The AMBER Alert had been issued on March 10, 2009 after the boys were last seen with their father on March 8. Connolly was supposed to bring the boys home to their mother, but never showed.
Police said previously that they believed Connolly may have been suicidal.
