16-year-old Kelsey Stelting has been reunited with her family after what police say was an elaborate hoax.
Around 6:30 am on April 11, Kansas authorities received a frantic 911 phone call about an alleged abduction. Taking the call very seriously, police acted quickly an immediately issued an AMBER alert for 16-year-old Kelsey Stelting who claimed to have been abducted at gunpoint from her home. Through there investigation, police learned that Kelsey had fabricated the whole story, acting alone.
Instead, police say Kelsey jogged from her home to another location and placed the 911 call. Authorities are not releasing a motive for the alleged abduction. Police are handing over any evidence to the district attorney who will determine whether or not Kelsey will face charges.
