Body of Arkansas Teenager Found
The body of a
missing Watson Chapel High School senior was found on Saturday afternoon in a rural area outside of Dumas, Arkansas. Police say 17-year-old Casey Crowder, disappeared on August 27, 2006 while driving home from her boyfriend's house in nearby Pickens.
It was shortly after 6 a.m. when police say Casey's car ran out of gas. She pulled over on the side of the road along US 65 south of Dumas. Casey phoned her mother about the car trouble. She told them she planned on walking to a nearby gas station for help. Police say that was the last time anyone spoke to Casey.
When Casey didn't return home later that day, her parents went looking for her. They found Casey's abandoned car and called police.
Investigators launched an all out search for Casey over the last 6 days, and her family was holding onto hope that she would be found alive. That ended when members of the National Guard found the young girl's body in a wooded area 6 miles from where her car was abandoned.
