6-Year-Old and Infant Recovered
Cops say that Richard Carelli and Michelle Pinkerton, the two suspects wanted for murdering 49-year-old Leonard Hoskins, fled California and had been living under the radar with their two daughters, Viana and Faith Carelli.
Viana's custodial parents, Gene and Ellen Paully dreamed of the day they would see their daughter again and cops say that a man from San Diego helped make their dream come true.
Police say that 39-year-old reporter, James Spring, was surfing the net and stumbled across the story of a fugitive couple on-the-run with a kidnapped child.
Cops say that the story caught his attention because he was familliar with the area in Mexico that was listed as a possible location.
Spring crossed the border, posted wanted/missing signs, and received leads on the missing child and wanted couple.
Clues led Spring to El Rosario, a city on the west coast of Baja, Mexico and authorities say that he was able to find the location of the home where the family had been renting.
Cops say that Pinkerton was teaching evening dance classes for children from their residence.
On April 7, 2008, authorities say that Spring contacted local police and U.S. Marshals.
Later that afternoon, the Carelli/Pinkerton home was raided by U.S. and local Mexican authorities and cops say that the fugitive couple was taken into custody along with the two girls.
Police say that since the arrest Viana has been safely returned to her custodial parents, Gene and Ellen Paully, who have temporarily been given custody of Faith.
Carelli and Pinkerton have been deported from Mexico and are awaiting transportation back to San Francisco for prosecution.
