Cops say there is still a warrant out on Mario Romero in the murder of his wife, Mitchell's mother, Veronica Esquivel Romero. They say preliminary reports indicate that Veronica Romero died from strangulation.
"We know that they had relationship problems in the past," said Denver City Police Chief Miller. "Romero had been arrested this past year for family violence."
Authorities tell AMW that Mario Romero is a legal resident alien from Mexico and has worked in oil field-related work in the past.
"We're not sure of his whereabouts for the simple reason that he has other family members in the United States," remarked Chief Miller. "All of these leads have been followed up on."
Police say 34-year-old Mario Romero is a Hispanic male, standing 5'7" tall and weighing around 205 lbs. He also has black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities say Romero could be driving a maroon 2004 GMC Yukon with Texas license plates 43WFX6. Cops think he could be headed to Mexico.
"We'd really like to have more information on a possible or known location -- whether it be in the United States or Mexico," concluded Chief Miller.
