On July 20, 2010, police were called to a remote stretch of desert road after a man doing yard work found human remains. Less than a day later, police in Riverside County announced the tragic news at an afternoon press conference: The remains had been identified as those of 17-year-old Norma Lopez.
The body had decomposed, and authorities found the teen topless and in jeans.
