North Carolina Teen Found Dead In Maryland River

Boaters discovered the body of 17-year-old Phylicia Barnes near the Susquehanna River Dam in Maryland.

Oddly enough, an hour later, police also discovered the body of Darryl Harper, a 53-year-old man who previously told his family he would commit suicide. Police have determined that to be the case.

Most recently, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Maryland has declared Phylicia's death a homicide; although they have not yet released the cause of death. Police say this sensitive information is vital to the progression of the case and prematurely releasing information to the public may jeopardize the investigation.

Despite four months having elapsed since Phylicia's disappearance, authorities say the Susquehanna river's cold temperatures limited her body's decompostion. Her body was identified through dental records and via a tattoo on her lower leg.
