A Wichita Falls, Texas police officer stopped the driver of a car for allegedly speeding Friday afternoon and soon realized the driver was the subject of an AMBER Alert. The three children who were the focus of the alert were inside the car and taken into protective custody.

Officers then transported 24-year-old Tuwana Ann Petty and her boyfriend 20-year-old Bradley Wayne Shipley to the Wichita County jail. Shipley is a registered sex offender.

According to the Texas Sex Offender Registry, Shipley was convicted in 1999, as a juvenile, of having sexual contact with a 5-year-old boy.

"The officer called up the tag number and was alerted by the dispatcher that there was an active Amber Alert," said Wichita Falls Police Sgt. Cindy Walker. Walker says the suspects surrendered without incident.
