After a desperate three day search, 11-year-old Jessica Saji was found unharmed on Monday, August 15, 2005. She was interviewed by police at the 83rd Precinct stationhouse about where she has been since Friday night.
Details of what happened to Jessica were murky, but police sources said it appears she ran away on her own and was not abducted.
"She's a really good kid. She's the 11-year-old you would want to have," a police source said after she vanished.
"We're looking at all angles. She's never done this before."
Jessica's mother said she was so baffled, she even started to wonder about a "hex" she says her ex-husband's family in India put on the girl after the couple's 2002 divorce.
"I'm so upset, I don't know what to do," she said yesterday before her daughter was found. "I'm brokenhearted."
Cops searched the area and interviewed possible witnesses.
Jessica's mom described her as a bright, happy, devoutly Catholic-school girl who was looking forward to seventh grade at St. Frances Cabrini School.
Her mother and 6-year-old brother were taken to the police station for a reunion.
