Pennsylvania State Police have called off the search for 4-year-old Alexis Roadside. Cops had issued an AMBER Alert for the little girl after they say her mother, Veronica Roadside, abducted her on April 11, 2007. Cops say Alexis was found with her mother in a Miami-Dade, Fla. women's shelter on April 25, 2007 --
and now she'll be reunited with other family members.
Investigators say Veronica took Alexis with her to Miami-Dade, Fla., where she tried to seek help from a women's shelter, saying she was trying to get away from abuse suffered at home. People at the shelter went on the internet to check out the story, and saw the AMBER Alert information. Cops say they were alerted, and sure enough, when they went to the shelter on April 15, 2007, they found Veronica and Alexis.
Cops say Alexis was safe and in good health. She will be reunited with her grandparents, and Veronica has been taken into custody on charges of interfering with the custody of a child, and concealing the whereabouts of a child.
