»The Full Story
Paige Birgfeld went missing on June 28th, 2007, and three months later police are naming a suspect in her disappearance.
Cops in Mesa County, Colorado say that Lester Ralph Jones of Grand Junction is now a suspect in the case. However, police are not saying whether or not he is in police custody. And they will not say how he is connected to the case. While this is a huge break for detectives, there are still many questions that need answers. Most importantly, police have yet to locate Paige.
Just a few days after Paige was last seen, her car was found in flames in a deserted parking lot.
And because of that, cops suspected foul play was involved. Detectives with the Mesa County Sheriff's Department say Paige's family reported her missing on Saturday, June 30th after they hadn't heard from her for several days. A day later, just as the news of her disappearance was about to make the 10 o'clock news, police say they got a strange phone call.
A concerned driver called to say they had noticed a car in a parking lot engulfed in flames. Cops say after a quick check, they learned the car belonged to Paige, but she was nowhere to be found.
A news release issued by Mesa County Sheriff's Office on the case on July 7, 2007, states that the investigation is focusing on people who were "in contact with Birgfeld or the escort service with which she was involved, Models Inc., around the time she vanished." It's unclear whether or not Jones is one of the individuals police were focusing on at that time.
Paige -- the mother of three young children -- is described as 5'4". She weighs 110 pounds and has sandy colored hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue strapless top with flowers and blue denim shorts. She is also known by the names, "Paige Dixon, Paige Beigler and Carrie."
