"We need closure. We need to know if he is dead or alive...Please help."
Those were the words of Debra Rayfield, a Mother from Mo. worried sick about her missing son, John. After a decade, cops say Debra finally found peace when John called his mother to tell the truth about where he was. Cops say he was in Aniston, Ala., on the run from probation violation charges. While he was hiding, cops say John met someone who made him want to change his life and start over -- and that's exactly what he's done.
John Rayfield
Police say 33-year-old John had received five years probation for a burglary charge in 1995. But cops say John violated that probation, and received new charges. According to police, this was too much for John, and he fled to Aniston, Ala. to get away from it all.
According to police, John decided it was time to make things right, so he called his worried mother and told her what happened. Cops say Debra convinced John to come back home to Poplar Buff, Mo.
On July 17, 2006, cops say John turned himself in to the MIssouri Department of Corrections, ending the painful worrying of his mother, and starting a new life for himself.
