Birmingham lawyer Sandra Gregory has been safely recovered after a harrowing ordeal. Sandra was abducted at gunpoint, and police say she was forced to drive her kidnapper to several ATMs. She was discovered at a local hotel, and an unidentified man has been taken into custody. »The Full Story
The search is on for an Alabama attorney, after a gunman forced her to drive off with him Wednesday morning, May 31, 2006. Police are on the lookout for 34-year-old Sandra Eubank Gregory and her four-door Lexus RX 300. A child safety seat was in the back seat, but police say no children were believed to be in the vehicle.
The abduction happened around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday near Gregory's downtown apartment. Police say Gregory was wearing a red tank top, black capri pants and hoop earrings. The gunman was described as wearing a striped, short-sleeve shirt with dark pants and sunglasses.
Gregory is a family law attorney, and a divorced mother of one child.
Jefferson County domestic relations Judge Gary Pate said everyone holds Gregory in high regard. "She is a real bright spot," Pate told the Birmingham News. "She not only is a good person, but a good lawyer."
