A Georgia judge declared a couple who has been missing since Monday, March 3, 2008 dead in a hearing on Oct. 22, 2009. The man police called a person of interest committed suicide shortly after their disappearance and left cryptic notes behind.

Though their bodioes have never been found, a Georgia judge declard John and Elizabeth Calvert dead in a hearing on Oct. 22, 2009. Family members were finally able to plan a memorial service for the couple for Nov. 15, 2009. The Calverts were last seen on March 3, 2008. That day they met with their accountant, Dennis Gerwing, who is said to be the last person to see them alive. Gerwing committed suicide on March 11, 2008 and left a cryptic note that read: "I have acted alone in all actions committed." "Taking myself out of the game is the best way to move everyone as quickly as possible past all events." The Sheriff's Office plans to continue investigating.
