Ex-Con Admits to Atlanta College Student Murder
Colvin C. "Butch" Hinton III confessed to the murder of Shannon Melendi on July 17, 2006. "I hate what I done," Hinton told authorities at Rogers State Prison. In the coming days, local and federal investigators hope to follow up on some of the details in Hinton's confession.

Shannon Melendi majored in Spanish and Political Science.
She had hopes of one day becoming a lawyer.
Investigators were focused on Hinton early in the investigation. They spent days digging up his back yard and found women's clothing and a softball scorecard. So far, none of it has been publicly linked to Shannon.
Hinton has remained the number one suspect in Shannon's disappearance.
