The search for 25-year-old Deysi Benitez is over, after investigators confirmed remains found in a makeshift grave in Frederick County, Md. belonged to Deysi. Police say the remains were discovered on February 29, 2008 -- and DNA analysis provided the match.
According to police, the remains were found on February 29, 2008. Initial forensic anthropologist reports indicated the remains looked to be those of a Hispanic female matching Deysi's description. Further DNA analysis revealed the match was positive.
Police say the body was discovered in a makeshift grave along a patch of secluded land near Emmitsburg, Md. -- about 15 miles from where Deysi lived with her husband and four children.
Deysi's husband, Pedro, and their four children were found dead in their home on March 26, 2007. Deysi was missing for nearly a year before her body was discovered. Cops say it appears Deysi was strangled to death.
Police say at this point, there is no reason to suspect anyone other than Deysi's husband is responsible for the killings.
