»The Full Story
Do you recognize this man's face? If so, you can help the FBI shut down an accused child predator who uses the Internet to distribute disgusting photos showing himself molesting young children.
Agents say they've found online images of the man abusing at least two children -- a boy and a girl. And they say that at least one of the images portrays sadistic and violent conduct. Based on those images, they've obtained a "John Doe" warrant charging the unidentified man with transporting child pornography images over the Internet. That means he's charged with a crime -- even though agents don't know who he is. The FBI has released these images of his face, cropped from the online photos.
"John Doe" warrants are one of the latest legal tactics employed by FBI agents in their fight against child pornography -- and they've already met with some big successes. In early 2004, the FBI asked America's Most Wanted to broadcast the faces of three unidentified men agents had pulled from pornographic pictures distributed over the Internet. Within days, all three had been identified by AMW viewers and were behind bars. They're hoping to continue that string of success with this "John Doe" case.
John Doe #4 -- the unidentified man the FBI says can be seen abusing children in photos distributed on the Internet -- is no longer unidentified. Canadian cops arrested the accused pedophile on June 27, 2005. But because the investigation is continuing, police have not released the man's name.
For now, investigators are only confirming that John Doe #4 is a 32-year-old Canadian citizen who was living in Montreal. Although they won't say who John Doe #4 is, police did tell AMW how they managed to get him behind bars.
Canadian investigators say they took one of the photos showing John Doe #4, and, using a special technique, enlarged the picture so they could take a look at every last detail. Those details are what helped cops snag their man. After enlarging the picture, detectives noticed a poster on the wall with words in both French and English. In Montreal, both languages are spoken -- so cops immediately suspected the person in the photo might be living in Montreal.
Investigators say they matched the photo to another tip they had received six months earlier about a child pornographer in Montreal. After following up, they were certain they had their guy. Police raided the suspect's house and found gut-wrenching evidence. They seized more than 1,000 DVDs, CDs and photo albums containing child porn.
They took the man into custody, and are now trying to discover if the alleged pedophile known as John Doe #4 has more victims. So far, he's being charged with sexual assault; sexual touching and the possesion, production and distribution of child pornography.
