On January 16, 2008, a jury convicted Keith Chester Hill of the aggravated sexual assault against a male teenager. The sentencing came after cops identified Hill, 20, as a serial attacker who preyed on his male peers in Baytown, Texas. Although Hill was convicted in just one of the cases, other victims testified during an intense trial.
»The Full Story
Dr. Jack Levin, a criminologist with Northeastern University in Boston, says that a serial rapist operating near Houston, Tex. -- a man targeting young male victims -- is so rare that he hasn't seen anything like it in 25 years.
Area police would like to make sure they don't see anything like it again for a long, long time. Investigators say this serial attacker has victimized at least five men since April 2006 -- the most recent attack happened on Nov. 30, 2006. Now, the Baytown Police Department is racing against time to try and stop the rapist before he hurts anyone else.
Police say the suspect has set his sights on white males in their late teens to early 20's. All of the known victims are small in stature with an athletic build, and look so similar that police say they might as well be brothers.
However, detectives want to send a warning to men of all races and ages in the Houston area -- police say everyone should be on alert until the suspect is behind bars.
All of the attacks happened within a 20 mile radius of the Baytown, Texas area and in each case, the attacker threatened the victim with a handgun. The attacker starts by asking for money or valuables and then assaults the victim.
Although five men have come forward to report the attacks, police fear there could be other victims who are ashamed to report an attack. However, police say the more they know about the suspect and his victims, the closer they will be to catching him. Police say they need a break in this case and feel certain that someone out there can provide clues to the suspect's identity.
In February 2007, police in Baytown, Texas -- just outside of Houston -- arrested Keith Chester Hill, a 19-year-old male suspect in the serial rape of five local young men.
Hill was arrested at his home, according to police. Authorities say that DNA evidence connected Hill to the sexual assault of a male victim in May 2006.
The Houston Serial Rapist case aired on AMW on Saturday, February 3, 2007, and detectives at the hotline received many tips on the case. While none of these led directly to the arrest, Baytown police said the show's involvement helped them to speed up the process of identifying Hill as a suspect and bringing him into custody.
On January 16, 2008, a jury convicted Keith Chester Hill of aggravated sexual assault on a male teenager. Although Hill was convicted in just one of the cases, other victims testified during an intense trial. It is still uncertain whether Hill will face additional charges related to the other cases.
