A massive search effort is currently underway in Salt Lake City, Utah for a missing 5-year-old girl named Destiny Norton. Since she went missing on July 16, 2006, numerous volunteers have worked with authorities in a community wide operation to find the little girl.
Police believe that Destiny's parents are not involved in the disappearance of their daughter and are not under suspicion. Both Rick and Rachel Norton have passed polygraph tests and Rachel has even offered a DNA sample.
Investigators have received dozens of tips since Destiny went missing but have focused their efforts on the block where the Nortons live as well as the block directly west of their home. The little girl's family says that they believe she walked out the front door of the multi-family residence after taking a bath. Detectives affirm that she was wearing only an adult-sized t-shirt at the time.
Police say that at this point they believe Destiny to still be alive, however, they have no concrete evidence to suggest that she was abducted or that a crime was even committed. They have also questioned more than 100 registered sex offenders who live in the area.
The Salt Lake City Police Department has asked for the public's assistance in locating Destiny Norton and are hopeful that the little girl will be returned safe and soon.
