Michael Austin Davis
I have worked in the Navy Law Enforcement and Antiterrorism Program side by side with NCIS for over twenty years but have never had such a daunting task as searching for my own son. My greatest fear is finding my own son dead in the woods.
A tedious and disheartening search continues as friends, family, and co-workers wait for answers as to why 26-year-old Michael "Austin" Davis went missing on June 26, 2007 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was last seen purchasing a shotgun at Jax Jewlery and Pawn in Jacksonville.
During this month long search, I have met several friends of Austin and have learned many things about him that gave me great pride in him. Austin is admired by his employer and co-workers. He is a good tech, holds strong work ethics and is well-mannered and respectful of others. Austin is a kind and loving man, is a hard worker and is admired by many.
Since Austin first disappeared, I have been taken back by the desire of others to help us in so many ways to deal with Austin's disappearance and this past weekend was no different. This weekend was truly amazing and a roller coaster ride all the way. I am still in awe of the tremendous individual and collective efforts to find Austin on Saturday and Sunday and am grateful to all who participated in the searches.
Search teams have covered various wooded areas near and around the location where Austin was last seen in Jacksonville.
I refuse to believe he is not still alive and believe he will be found with the help of others.
