Soldier Dissapears in Wake of Suspicious Arson

When Second Lieutenant Holley Wimunc didn’t report for work in the baby ward at the Womack Army Medical Center on July 10th, 2008, her co-workers went to her residence nearby to check on her. That’s when police say they noticed the smoke and called 9-1-1.

Cops say that when firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire had extinguished itself and was in a smoldering state.  The Fire Marshals worked from the least amount of damage to the most amount of damage to determine a cause, and found that an accelerant was used to ignite the blaze.

Wimunc was nowhere to be found, and her car was still left in the parking lot of her complex.  Detectives are working very closely with Ft. Bragg officials to coordinate search efforts.

Second Lieutenant Holley Wimunc graduated from St. Ambrose University in Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Ft. Bragg is Wimunc’s first duty assignment, and she’s been there since August 2007.
