Family members say that Rachael Walsh never missed a day of work in her 27 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Which is one of many reasons why her disappearance is confounding relatives and law enforcement alike.
Cops tell AMW that on the weekend of Aug. 16, 2008, Rachael decided to get away and camp alone at a Fall Creek Resort campsite, some 70 miles from her home in Meridian. When Rachael didn't return home, her family drove to her campsite and found all of her belongings untouched. Her identification, her credit cards, her asthma medication were all left behind -- the only things missing were Rachael and her 2005 red Dodge Neon, Idaho plate 1AUK314.
Authorities say that Rachael had lost both her husband and a friend in the past year and the 48-year-old mother of four had subsequently gone through bouts of depression.
After searching for more than a year, Rachael's body was found in her submerged car just a couple of miles from where she was last seen.
