»The Full Story
On July 22, 2007, Britney Wright's mother came face-to-face with every parent's worst nightmare.
Around 5 a.m. that morning, she discovered that her 19-year-old daughter was missing.
She told police she saw Britney before she went to bed the night before, when Britney asked to borrow her cell phone.
Britney's cousin, who was spending the night, said she noticed around 2 or 3 a.m. that Britney was not in her bed.
Phone records show she tried to contact several people between 2 and 3 a.m., using her mother's cell phone. Cops say one conversation with a friend lasted more than 20 minutes.
But no one has heard from Britney since.
Her mother told police that Britney was wearing her pajamas when she last saw her, but doesn't know if she might have changed clothes.
Cops say she didn't take anything with her from the home. All of her clothes were still in her room.
Britney grew up the Vernon, Fla. area, where she was living with her mother on Country Road at the time of her disappearance. She had attended Vernon High School.
Sgt. Kenny Brock of the Washington County Sheriff's Office said police have talked with all of her friends, thoroughly searched the area and exhausted their leads.
They even traveled to areas in southern Alabama and central Georgia where she is known to have family or friends, but found nothing.
Now, they're still hoping to speak to anyone who might know something about Britney's whereabouts.
